After snacking on boiled eggs (only Russell), pigs in a blanket and m&m's, we had to refuel our bellies. So if anyone out there knows me well, we made that "all important stop"... McDonalds SWEET TEA!!!!! We also drove thru a huge park to see an exact replica built of the Parthenon built in 1897. That was pretty cool. (Picture two)
We finally arrived in Memphis. And yes, we drove straight to Graceland ( for a quick drive-by). After unloading and checking into our hotel, we headed out. Our first stop was the Peabody Hotel to watch the Peabody ducks march from the pond, back to their rooftop home for the evening. They have done this every day since the 1950's. (Picture 1)Next, we headed out for FOOD!!! Now, our purpose for this trip is to see National Parks. BUT... the Post Family will not pass up good food, especially when we check the Food Network's list of Best BBQ Places in Memphis. We found a "famous" place and munched (code word for "tore into") some dry rub ribs, garlic shrimp, slaw, beans and fries. YUMMMMM!!!!
We ended our day in a yogurt shop where everyone fixed their own sundae and we sang Happy Birthday to our own Independence Baby... and now teenager... Rachel. We also want to send out Happy Birthday wishes to Mawmaw, my grandmother and the girl's great grandmother, who turns 91 today. (And say a prayer for Mawmaw's sister, Aunt Ruth, who is in the hospital today).
Can't wait til tomorrow... only 7 hours of driving and staying with Aunt Jane in Dallas!! Thanks for reading!! Love, The Post Family
